LOUISE GERTRUDE (BROY) DUKE (1914-2005)

Louise Gertrude Broy Duke, 91, of Berryville, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, in Mayfair House, Berryville.

Mrs. Duke was born March 6, 1914, in Clarke County, the daughter of John William and Nellie Gertrude Stickel Broy. She was a baker with the Corps of Engineers. She was a member of Berryville Presbyterian Church. She married Robert Edward Duke on July 13, 1940, in Berryville. Mr. Duke died March 2, 1984.

Surviving are a son, Bobby E. Duke of Bluemont; two daughters, Connie D. Mason of Berryville and Dorothy D. Burks of Front Royal; two sisters, Dorothy Grubbs of Berryville and Anna Mallory of Front Royal; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Five brothers, William Broy, Alfred Broy, Robert Broy, James “Bud” Broy, and Paul Broy; and three sisters, Velma Deavers, Frances Thompson, and Murell Broy, are deceased.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, with the Rev. Jonathan W. Bunker officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville. Pallbearers will be Roy Lee Broy, Robert Broy Jr., Bryan Broy, William Broy, Richard Deavers, and David Broy.
