Comments: Relationship to Henry Senior
Henry Stickle [SR] was bound to Caty Michael, likely the daughter of Daniel Michael [or Michel] in marriage 31 March 1787. In the tithable records of Fauquier County, Virginia, Henry or Henry senior is on the tithable records for 1786 - 1788, 1794, and 1797-1799. George was in the tithable records for 1787and 1789. There is no record of Henry senior again, but in the Fauquier County, Virginia tithable record of 1798 there is a Henry junior. Henry is next found in the 1850 US Census (see below). At this instant we may substantiate that Henry junior, married to Elizabeth Bolen [Bolden], is the forbear of James Garnett Stickles, Senior, because of the death records found for Thomas William Stickle, Charles Clinton Stickles, and Marshall Clinton Stickles, Senior. - [Donald E. Watts]

Age 58 - The 1850 Census [Virginia > Clarke > District 12 > Page 29, line 24/204/204] (shows Henry as 58 and his wife Elizabeth is 33. Henry is working as a cooper [a maker of wooden barrels - Vernon Wilson]. There is no listing for property value. A Nancy Bolen (age 70, ) was living in the house along with the following children: Harriet (age 11), Joseph (age 5), Thomas W. (age 5), Michael (Age 3), and Nancy (10 mos.)

Note: Directly below the above entry, is a Robert Ashby who surely is related to the Ashby girls who married Simon and Joseph Stickel. [Vernon Wilson]

Age 68 - The 1860 Census for [Virginia > Clarke > District 12 > 28] indicates a child George W and Sarah Elizabeth are living with Henry and his wife

[Note: The last four children of Henry seem to have died before the 1880 census, since they do not show up in the 1880 census reports - Vernon Wilson]

Age 89 - In the 1880 U.S. Cenus for Clarke County - Henry Stickles (age 89) and his wife Elizabeth (age 62) are living together with their son Thomas (age 37). Thomas's sister Harriet Jones (age 39) is widowed and living with her children James Jones (age 6) and Rachel Jones (age 3). Thomas's wife Maggie (age 28) and two of his children Lola Lee (age 2) and Charles C (age 1 mo)
