Comments: DNA Note: There is a Autosomal DNA evidence that now
links
many of George's children to each other. DNA analysis has been done on the
following children: child 1: Henry, child 3: Daniel, child 4: George,
child 7: David child 8: Simon, child 9: Thomas, child 10: Jacob
and child 11: Joseph many of whom have multiple descendants
who now have DNA links to various other cousins. See each line for details.
New Children: We have recently added (2016-2017) three new children to
George's family based on DNA analysis, child 1: Joseph, child 3: Daniel,
child 7: David, child 9: Daniel and child 10: Jacob. All these children
have been added based on DNA analysis, many have connections to
Pennsylvania (south west corner) and moved their families to Ohio, Illinois and Iowa.
Birth: I don't believe that George could have been born in 1765 based
upon the tax records. They suggest that Henry was the eldest son, born about
1767-1768, since he was taxed as a separate person in 1787, the year he was
married. Meawhile, George was listed as a tithable between 16 and 20 in that year
with Henry Sr. George continued to be listed as a tithable with Henry Sr. for several
years thererafter. 1768 or 1769 seems more plausible as a birthdate for George,
marrying at age 20 or 21. [Submitted by Jonathan Long]
Note: Henry Stickle, II (1768-1857) was born very close in age to George
Stickle, I (1765-1857), they have been confused with one another but it is our belief
that they are brothers and not one in the same person, Henry married Katarina and
George married Jenny
A Marriage certificate was discovered at the Faquier County courthouse for both
George and his likely brother Henry Stickle, I.
It has been supposed by Donald Watts, that George and his brother may have been
German immigrants who did not speak English at the time of their marriage. But 7
years later when George's brother Henry got married, Henry signed his daughter's
marriage license. George also seems to have entered several documents with the
courts later in his life.
Age 22 - 2 Nov 1789 - Marriage License from Faquier county court house -
PDF version with Transcription (See Yellow Note for transcription).
[Note that the consent is signed by Jenny's father Daniel Michel and this text
is in German, also George signed the document with his mark indicating that he could
not read or write english]
Age 26 - 1791 - The first child Daniel is born, possibly in Pennsylvania -
this birth is specuated based on DNA link
Age 29 - 1794 - The second child George is born in Virginia
Age 48 - 1747 - The last child Joseph is born in Loudoun County, Virginia
Age 42 - 1810 US Census - Living in Loudoun County, the census indicates
that he has two children under the age of 10 living in his home, and two boys between
the ages of 10 and 15 years. There were also 3 boys between the ages of 16 and 25
living in the home. There was also one man over the age of 45 and two girls between
the ages of 10 and 15. And one woman between the ages of 26 and 44. The older man
and woman are most likely George and his wife. George did not own any slaves.
Possible DNA relative/child - Thomas Chappell Stickell
