Comments: The 1840 Census shows a "Simon Stickles" living in Clark County, VA. Living in the household are 1 boy under the age of 5, one man between the ages of 30-39, one girl under the age of 5. One woman between the ages of 20-29. The were not handicapped individual, no slaves and the census indicates that the adults could read and write.

The 1850 Census Simon is still living in Clark Co. and Simon is 48 and his wife Amelia is 42. Simon is working as a farmer and his property is valued at $330. The children living in the home are as follows: Sarah J. (12 yrs), Henry C. (11 yrs), Simon P. (9 yrs), Meli E. (7 yrs), Thomas M. (age 7), Thomas M. (age 4), Mary S. (age 2) and Jonathan (1 mo.).
