The following obit for Katherine appeared in the October 11, 1973 Courier:

Mrs. Katherine Lee McDonald, 87, of Berryville, died Monday in the Winchester Memorial Hospital. Mrs. McDonald was born January 17, 1998 in Clarke County, a daughter of the late Charles and Sally Locke Broy. She was the widow of Louis Edward McDonald.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marion E Foltz and Mrs. Hilda L Pitta, both of Berryville; Mrs. Durwood Smallwood of Berryville and Mrs. Cleveland Moore of Kearneysville, W. VA; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2 PM at the John H Enders Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Moore and the Rev. T.S. Hogan. Pallbearers will be Albert Nicodemus, Jr.; Edward Fenton, James Riley, William Hausenfluck, Kenneth Longerbeam and G. W. Shackleford. Interment was in the Green Hill Cemetery.
