The following obit for Roy appeared in the December 23, 1972 Winchester Star:
Roy G Leake, 60, of Berryville, died yesterday at his residence, following a prolonged illness. Mr. Leake was born May 16, 1912 in Berryville, a son of the late Robert Owen and Bessie Lanham Leake. He was a member of the Berryville Baptist Church and was the operator of a local grocery business. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida S Leake, son, Roy G Leake, two sisters, Miss ?? Leake and Mrs. Dorothy L Thompson, both of Berryville and his stepmother, Mrs. Dalay Leake. Of Charles Town, W. VA.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM at the John Enders Funeral Home, Berryville, by the Rev. Darryl Maxwell. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Collis, Westford Hanline, Ted May, Albert Nicodemus, Cecil Moore and Ardell McFullen. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Davis, Smith McFillen, Arthur McDonald, Richard Tavenner, James Singham, May Tavenner and H.B. Pierce Jr. The body is at the Enders Funeral Home.
