Eleanor W Fowler, 72, of 5512 Oakwood Road, Alexandria, died Wednesday in Fairfax Hospital. Mrs. Fowler was born June 1, 1920 in Clarke County, the daughter of Charles Lacy and Nancy Locke Broy. She was secretary and treasurer of J.G. Fowler Inc., a construction company in Alexandria. She was a member of Franconia Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary since 1954, and a member of Franconia Baptist Church, the church choir, the Golden Days Club and the Women's Mission Union.
She married James Garland Fowler Oct. 24, 1941 in Boyce. Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Nancy Mae Rizer of Marshall; two sons, Herbert L Fowler of Heathsville and Garland E Fowler of Alexandria; three sisters, Alma Stickles of Clearbrook, Pauline Heflin of Berryville and Elizabeth Simpson of Round Hill; a brother Lacy Broy of Winchester; seven grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
A funeral will be at 11 AM Saturday in Enders Funeral Home, Berryville, with the Dr. William E Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville. Pallbearers will be Calvin Heflin, Charles Fowler, Robert Heflin, Richard Fowler, Allen Heflin, Robert Golliday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 3271, Winchester 22604.
