Obituary - Ammie C. Strother
5-27-1897 to 1975
Ammie C. Strother, 78, of near Berryville, died Sunday at his residence. Mr. Strother was born May 27, 1897 in Clarke County, a son of the late Snowden and Rosa Lanham Strother.
He was married to the former Miss Charlotte Hough. He was a retired trucker, a member of the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, the Ameri can Legion Lloyd Williams Post No. 41 and a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Peggy Kirby of Chestertown, Md., four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Rhufoe Brown and Mrs. Chester Rosenberry, both of Berryville and two brothers, Kenneth (Buck) Strother of Winchester and Snowden (Toby) Strother of Berryville.
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the John H. Enders Funeral Home in Berryville by the Rev. H. M. Elam. Burial was in the Green Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Singhass, James Ferrebee, Joe Hummer, Rice Carper, Jr., Carroll Lloyd and Herbert Gray, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Hummer, Thomas Carper, Francis Logan, Roger Bemusdaffer, Jack Gray and Eustace Jackson.
