[OBITUARY] - The Evening Star, Winchester, VA, Monday, Feb 26, 1906: Edward W. Stickles, a prominent young farmer of this county, died on Saturday night at his home on the Millwood Road, three miles southeast of Winchester, aged 36. For more than a year past, Mr. Stickles had been a sufferer from tuberculosis of the bone and sometime ago underwent a difficult and dangerous operation. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stickles and leaves his parents, a widow and several young children. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Lee Stickles, and one sister, Miss Corinne Stickles. Funeral services held at his home. Rev Mr. Smith conducted services.
[Account from Mike Godown from one of Edward's grand daughters] - She said her father told her he remembered hearing his Father scream when they removed his arm. Since they did not have anethesia, they used whiskey.
