JARRETT MCDONALD (1878-1940)
The following obit for Jarrett appeared in the October 24, 1940 Courier:
Funeral services for Jarrett "Jud" McDonald, who died suddenly from heart attack Monday afternoon on the Con Brown farm near Berryville, where he lived, were conducted yesterday from his late residence. The services were conducted by Dr. L. A. Parker, pastor of the Berryville Baptist Church. Interment was in the Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were: William Johnston, W.D. Wisecarver Sr., William Rosenberry, Rice W Levi. L. H. Bell and John Russell.
Mr. McDonald was performing the evening chores on his farm when he was seized and died before medical assistance could be summoned. He was known over Clarke County for his quite, genial and likable disposition.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary McDonald of Clarke County and married the former Miss Sallie Broy. He was 62 years old. Mr. McDonald is survived by the following children: Mrs. Hunter Longerbeam, Harley, Maitland and Malcomb McDonald, all t home, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Betty Tharpe of Winchester, Mrs. Ed Willingham and Mrs. Page Willingham of West Virginia, Mrs. Luther Corbin of Boyce, Mrs. Trone Chappell of Alexandria, Charles McDonald of Boyce, Frank McDonald of Kearneysville, Lewis McDonald and Thomas McDonald, both of Berryville, and one half-brother, William McDonald of Middleburg.
