Hunter R. "Buddy" Longerbeam, Jr., of 115 Rice St., Berryville, died Saturday at his home. Mr. Longerbeam was born Oct. 18, 1931 in Clarke County, the son of Hunter R. and Audrey McDonald Longerbeam. He was a retired program supervisor coordinator for Clarke County Parks and Recreation Department. He was also a supervisor for H.F. Byrd Inc. and a salesman for Brumback Equipment Co. in Winchester. He was a member of Berryville Baptist Church.
Mr. Longerbeam was a member and former chief of the Enders Fire Company and a former captain of the Enders Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association. He was a member of Berryville Moose Lodge 2139 and served on the Clarke County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. He was an A.S.A. umpire.
He was married to Dolly Ann Stickles. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Glenn Allen Longerbeam of Frederick County and Jay Steven Longerbeam of Martinsburg, W. VA.; sis sisters, Carolyn Singhas, Sally Lloyd, Janie Longerbeam, Marie Longerbeam and Iva Longerbeam, all of Berryville, and Agnes Turner of Lancaster, PA; and one grandson.
A graveside service was at 10 AM today at Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with Dr. William Ingram officiating. Pallbearers were: William T Milleson, Benjamin Crim, William Renner, Lawrence A Larrick, Claude A Ashby, Douglas Crim and James Crim. Memorial contributions may be made to the Enders Fire Company and Rescue Squad Building Fund, Berryville. Funeral arrangements were handled by Enders Funeral Home, Berryville.
