Age 28 - Thomas came to Virginia Colony, (Tydewater), then settling in Shenandoah Valley about 1710 along Beaverdam Run of Aquia Creek and Chopawamsic [Thomas Sherer and Find a Grave]
Age 54 - In 1734 he received 200 Acres on the North Side of the Shenandoah River from Joist Hite.
Age 62 - A land grant in 1742 gave him 370 acres at one site on which he built his home known as "Yew Hill" and 108 acres at another, covering the present village of Delaplane Virginia, on the south side of the Shenandoah River in present Clark County, Virginia.
Age 68 - March, 1748, George Washington (Age 16) spent several nights in their home. George Washington was 16 years old and working as a surveyor. This was George Washington's first visit to that beautiful area.
Age 72 - Capt. John Ashby served as a vestryman of Frederick Parish, Fauquier, Co., having been elected with Lord Fairfax and others in 1752.
