Verlin “Red” Zirkle, 91, of Jefferson Hills, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at Jefferson Hills, Pa.
He was born May 11, 1911, in Upshur County, a son of the late Charles and Alice Proudfoot Zirkle.
He was thrice married. First, he married Camdema “Jack” Zirkle, who preceded him in death. Second, he married Wilma Moriaty Zirkle, who preceded him in death. Third, he married Clara Zirkle, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Delbert “Jack and wife, Gloria, Jefferson Hills, Pa., and Raymond and wife, Abbie Fallen, Buckhannon; one stepdaughter, Wilma Jean and husband, Ed Friday, Belle Vernon, Pa.;
four granddaughters, Melanie and husband, James Gillot, Jefferson Hills, Pa., Carolyn and husband, Jim Keffer, Chester, Va., Cathy Burr, Waxahachie, Texas, and Sheila Bouch, Grove City, Pa.;
and one grandsons, Robert Zirkle, Jefferson Hills, Pa.
He moved to live in Duquesne, Pa. and worked in U.S. Steels. He worked for Duquesne for 36 years before retiring. After retiring, he also lived in Venetia, Pa., and Philippi. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Duquesne.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Talbott Cemetery at Talbott. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
