Obituary for Michael Lee Wood Sr.
Michael Lee Wood, Sr., 62, of Stephenson died Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Winchester Medical Center.
He was born July 16, 1955 in Winchester the son of Charles D. and Anna Barbour Wood.
He married Joy Grimes in 1972.
He enjoyed camping, old cars, music, and sports, especially NASCAR and baseball.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Wood, Jr., and his wife Michelle of Stephens City, Robert Wood and his wife Celena of Winchester, and Charles Wood and his wife Melissa of Clear Brook; seven grandchildren; siblings, Paul Wood and his wife Brenda, Paige Tavenner and her husband Donald, Lisa Tyree and her husband Jim, Carolyn Jenkins and her husband Ray; sister-in-law, Esther Wood, and a large extended family.
His brother, Charles "Monty" Wood preceded him in death.
A funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 311 Hope Drive Winchester officiated by Reverend Jeff Barbour.
Entombment will follow the service in Shenandoah Memorial Park with John Kline, Jay Myrick, Chris Petrolino, Mike Clark, John Jones, and Jay Stickel serving as casket bearers. Honorary Bearers will be John Jones, II, Butchie, Joe Marshall, and T.C. Stickel.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael Wood, Sr. Funeral Fund care of United Bank 4095 Valley Pike Winchester, VA 22602.
