Linder C. Shoaff, 65, of 59 N. Wright Ave. , Fairborn , died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Miami Valley Hospital (Dayton, Ohio)

A native of Mt. Carmel , Ill. , he attended Charleston ( Ill. ) State Teachers College and taught in the Illinois public schools for 12 years.

In 1941 he moved to Fairborn and was employed as an aircraft instrumentation mechanic at Wright-Patterson AF Base, later advancing to the position of mechanical engineer with the 4950th Test Wing.

Mr. Shoaff was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and served as a lay president of the congregation for several years. He belonged to Fairborn lodge 764 F&AM, Rabboni Chapter 232, Wright Council RSM, National Greene Commandery KT, was past head officer of all the above groups and at the time of his death was secretary of Lodge 764.

Survivors include his widow, Anna C. Shoaff; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Linda) Boyd of Fairborn, and three grandchildren.

The Rev. Gordon Glink will conduct services Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery . Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Friday at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St . , Fairborn , where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Church or the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, in care of Nathaniel Greene Commandery.
