Service:
Funeral Services for Ethel Bolyard will be held on Monday, December 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church, 2313 17th Avenue. Entombment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.

Visitation:
Visitation for Ethel will be held on Sunday, December 26th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue, and on Monday at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Obituary:
Ethel Bolyard, age 73, of Kenosha, died Tuesday (December 21, 2004) at United Hospital System Kenosha Campus. Born October 18, 1931, in Manfred, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Bertha (Nordtorp) Melby. She attended schools in Manfred and Fessenden, North Dakota. On June 1, 1952, at Vang Lutheran Church in Manfred, North Dakota, she married Joseph S. Bolyard. As a young woman, she taught in a one room school house in rural North Dakota. Then, she was employed as a bookkeeper for a trucking company, and then as a legal secretary both in Farmington, Minnesota. She moved to Kenosha from Farmington, Minnesota in 1969. Upon coming to Kenosha, she worked at Carthage College for 27 years, in the development office, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Holy Nativity Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir and was active in other capacities. She served as a volunteer at the Shalom Center Soup Kitchen. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Farmington Myrtle Chapter 13, where she had served as Worthy Matron, J.U.S. Round Robin Bridge Club, and a Past President of P.E.O. Chapter AK. She enjoyed traveling, and was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, and cross stitcher. She also enjoyed working on her computer, and had chronicled the Manfred News from 1930-1940 for the Manfred North Dakota Historical Society. She faithfully attended her grandchildrens sporting and musical events, as well as enjoyed cooking and music. She is survived by her husband: Joseph S. Bolyard of Kenosha, a son: David L. Bolyard of Milwaukee, a daughter: Susan R. (John) Checki of Racine, three brothers: Orlien (Zelda) Melby of Sun City, Arizona, Kenneth (Jeanne) Melby of Fessenden, North Dakota, and Gene (Betty) Melby of Harvey, North Dakota, a sister: Muriel (Lowell) Boyum of Mandan, North Dakota, and four loving grandchildren: Nathan and Kali Bolyard, and Andrew and Rachel Checki. She was preceded in death by a brother: Roy Melby, and two sisters: Cora Turner, and Ruth Hovey.
Residence History: She moved to Kenosha from Farmington, Minnesota in 1969.
