FRED BAKER MCCAULEY
Requiem mass was said this morning (Thursday) at 10 AM at St. James Church in Charles Town for Fred Baker McCauley, 48, salesman for the Waynesboro, VA. Tree Nursery and a resident of East Liberty Street, Charles Town Sunday night at 11:30 in the Winchester Memorial Hospital. The Rev. John C Ryan rector of the Charles Town church was in charge of the services and burial was in Edge hill Cemetery in Charles Town. The Rosary was said Wednesday at 8 PM at the Melvin T Strider Colonial Funeral Home.
The deceased had been hospitalized both in Charles Town and in Winchester, VA for the past month or so. Some years ago, Mr. McCauley was associated with the American Store in Charles Town and them later with the Washington Food Store before he went with the Tree Nursery Company. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Jefferson County Chapter, Izaak Walton League, and the Independent Fire Company here.
Born in Charles Town on Nov. 10, 1910, he was a son of Mrs. Ida E Locke McCauley of South Charles Street and the late Joseph Baker McCauley. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Naylor McCauley at home; son Fred B Jr. at home; his mother; brother, Willard McCauley, Martinsburg; three sisters - Mrs. Albert Harsh, Brunswick, MD; Mrs. Russell Grams, Silver Spring, MD; Mrs. Gorden Chaney, Coral Hills, MD.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
