 The following obit for Arthur appeared on June 14, 1947 in a local newspaper:
ARTHUR H LOCKE DIED AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS
Arthur H Locke, a native of this Clarke County, VA but a resident of this county the greater part of his life span of 80 years, died Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Mary Ott, East Congress Street, Charles Town, after an illness of one week. For years, Mr. Locke, as a carpenter, was in the employ of Wm. Phillips & Sons and later with the Whitmore Lumber Co. In later years, he was janitor of the Charles Town Baptist Church. His wife died 13 years ago.

Survivors are three children, Mrs. J. B. McCauley, of Charles Town; Richard V Locke, of Baltimore, Md, and Mrs. Earl Wetty, of Chambersburg, PA; four brothers, Ben Locke, William Locke, Edward Locke and Kent Locke, all of Virginia; and one sister, Mrs. Nancy Broy, of Berryville, VA.

Funeral services were held in the Charles Town Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the Rev. B. I. Barnes of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was made in Edge Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Wade Wharton, M. H. Hindman, Harvey Lahman, Clyde Hitt, William Robinson, and George F Shields.
