CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Bedford L. Helsley, 76, of Charles Town, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Heartland of Martinsburg (W.Va.).
Born March 24, 1929, in Summit Point, W.Va., he was the son of the late George W. and Della Stickles Helsley.
He had been a construction worker.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a Methodist.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948 and VFW Memorial Post 3522, both of Charles Town.
He is survived by three sisters, Madeline Mahoney of Inwood, W.Va., Marie Helsley of Charles Town, and Elizabeth Cooper of Virginia; 22 nieces and nephews; 31 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 16 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Della G. Ashby and Betty L. Costello, and two brothers, Charles Helsley and Carson Helsley.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Dr. Henry Christie will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
