Lillian Rebecca Hanen Hardy, age 92, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Mrs. Hardy was born in 1919, in Greenwood, Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Samuel P. and Rosa S. Hanen. She graduated for John Handley High School, Class of 1937. She was a bookkeeper retiring from Montgomery Wards and Gaunt’s Drug Store. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winchester and was an associate member and attended Montague Avenue United Methodist Church in Winchester. Where she taught the Senior Adult Class and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Lillian married Stanley F. Hardy on May 16, 1956. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1989.
She is survived by a half niece, Dorothy Van Court of Baltimore, Maryland and several cousins. She is also survived by her caregiver, D. M. Burner of Winchester and a very special friend, Mary Sinkoski.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, 11:00 AM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Reverend Anthony Wadsworth officiating. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charlestown, West Virginia.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service .
