Harvey Nelson Grimes, 81, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007. He was raised in Loudoun County and lived in Manassas for 20 years where he was employed by Koon Pontiac/Oldsmobile and was a member of the Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department. In 1976 he moved to Salem, where he worked at Salem Motors until he opened his own garage, from which he retired. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Farmer Grimes; daughter, Linda Mae (Larry) Williams of Goodview; grandson, Michael Church and fiance Amy Dickerson; brothers, Melvin Grimes of Pittsburgh, Calvin Grimes of Pennsylvania, and Shirley Grimes of Leesburg; sister, Marion (Dolly) Hagenbuch of Leesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends, James Cornett of Manassas, Jerry Bartlett of Salem, William Bowers of Manassas, and James Sheffield of Jacksonville, Fla. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Joey Phillips officiating with honors presented by VFW Post #1264. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadus Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 59 Green Street, Concord, NC 28025 or to Goodview Baptist Church Building Fund, 1057 Grace Court, Goodview, VA 24095. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
