Noah P. Godown, 81, of Milford, NJ, former borough councilman for 18 years, died in Warren Hospital where he was admitted December 8.
Mr. Godown formerly operated dry goods stores in Frenchtown and Milford. Earlier he was employed by the Riegel Paper Corp and even earlier in his life he worked as a boat captain on the Lehigh and Delaware canals.
Born May 8, 1886 in Milford he was a son of the late Charles and Alice Pursell Godown.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Milford.
Survivors include his widow, the former Emma Melick; five sons, Wilber and Clarence both of Frenchtown; Earl Milford, and Norman and Herbert, both of Reigelsville; four daughters, Mrs. Lillian Pethybridge, Reigelsville; Mrs. Dorothy Hollo, Trenton; Mrs. Edith Black, San Leandro, Calif., and Mrs. Nancy Vegh, Milford; two stepchildren, Harry Kinney, Milford, and Mrs. Arlene Bellis, Bloomsbury; two brothers, John Cedarville, NJ, and Frank Millville, NJ, 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Obituary
The funeral of Mrs. Noah Godown, of Milford, was held at the Christian Church, on Tuesday December 21, 1920. Internment was made in the Milford Cemetery. The pallbearers were Arthur Saylor, Arthur Godown, Joseph Hearn, Harold Brown, David Hawk and Walter Hancey. Mrs. Godown had been ill for six weeks, suffering from an infected tooth. An operation for blood poisoning was performed on her at the Trenton Hospital, with no avail. She is survived by her husband and two sons and two daughters; also by her parents and four sisters, all of Milford.
