Comments: Age 25 - 1880 Census shows a James and Alice Stickles living in Eagle Point, Chippewa County, Wisconsin (WI). James is listed as 26 years old and wife Alice is 20 years. His occupation is listed as a logger. In addition, he was living next door to his sister Mary Alma Stickel and her husband Will (William Alonzo Hill). It appears that both James and his brother-in-law were both working as loggers.

Age 45 - 1900 Census: Virginia, Clarke Co, Chapel Magisterial District, SD #7, ED #7, pg 610, dtd 06-18-1900, Dwelling #362, Family #376. James W. Stickel, head of household, born Jan 1850, age 50, married 25 years (1875), Farmer, owns farm free of mortgage. Maria A, wife, born Nov 1855, age 44, married 25 years, had 7 children, 6 still living. Sophena A, daughter, born Sept 1878, age 21, single. William A, son, born Dec 12 1881, age 18, single. Mary A, daughter, born Dec 1885, age 14, single. Henry L, son, born July 1888, age 11, single, at school. Jennie M, daughter, born Oct 1891, age 8, single. Virginia G, daughter, born Nov 1892, age 7, single. All were born in VA as were their parents.

Age 55 - 1910 Census shows James "Stickles" as being 60 years old and his occupation is listed as a farmer. His wife Maria is 55 years old. There are three children living in the house: Lee (21 yrs), Grace (16 yrs), and Edward (7 yrs). All three of these children are listed as being born in Virginia. Maria also indicates that she had given birth to 7 children and 6 were still alive.

Age 65 - 1920 Census shows James and Maria still living in Clark County. James age is 70 years and his occupation is listed as a manager for a farm. James owns his farm or home outright. Maria is listed as 65 years old. They have one child living at home: Lee (31 yrs) and his occupation is listed as a laborer. All three claim to be able to read and write.
