Stephen M. Carr, 57, of St. John Street, Grafton, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, April 3, 2010.
He was born July 7, 1952, at Philippi, a son of Dema Carr of Belington and the late William L. Carr Sr.
Steve is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patsy Nestor Carr; two sons, Timmy Carr and Michael Carr of Thornton;
stepdaughter, Traci Markham Poling and husband, Patrick, of Grafton;
two daughters, Lorrie Johns and husband Jason of Philippi and Stephenie Riley of Effingham, Ill.;
five grandchildren, Emilie, Hunter, Hailie and Archer Johns and Dylan Riley;
four sisters, Shirley Swearingen and husband, Bruce, of Sterling, Va., Janet McCord and husband, Larry, of Accident, Md., Delores Chapman and husband, Jim, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Debra Carr of Belington;
two brothers, Willard Carr and wife, Beverly, of Elizabeth, Pa., and Ronald Carr of Grafton; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, William L. Carr Jr.
Steve was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Grafton. He was a retired coal miner from Kitt Energy Corp. In the summer, you would find him at Tygart Lake helping out at Dan's Marine Service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He also enjoyed spending time with his chocolate lab, Resey, who was his best friend. Whenever you would see Steve driving around in his Jeep, Resey was always right by his side.
The family will receive friends at Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton today from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, April 9, from 9 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour with Pastor David Maley officiating. Interment will follow in Bluemont Cemetery.
